Lost in the darkness!
This is a tiny tale that I got from my Austrian friend Pat. Thank you Pat, It's little but its in the right place :>)
Here I am, stumbling through the darkness of the night. No one is here besides me and the wind rustling in the leaves. I am trying hard to concentrate all my energies on going by ignoring all the desperate thoughts like being forced to spend a whole night in the woods, freezing and feeling almost like Robinson Crusoe.
But suddenly there is a soft glimmer. Hopefully I increase my pace. The nearer I move the clearer I see, that there is not only one light. No!
A sea of light that is Vienna emerges in front of my eyes sparkling and shining like heaven. At this moment I feel as one with the great number of human beings living in this town. For me each light represents a person. A person like you and me, with all its hopes, with all its wishes, with all its fears. Someone who is able to laugh. Someone who is able to cry. All the joy and happiness as well as all the sadness that fills our lives is taking place behind each window.
Not only the light but also the distant murmur of the city made me feel home at once. I could imagine its cars, buses and trams rolling down the street.
I could imagine the neon light of its shops going on and off. I could imagine people strolling down the streets talking to each other enjoying the night.
How glad I was to be back home!
